I was wondering if anyone has got ideas on how to trace my great-uncle.

Family legend history has it that he went to Australia in around 1924. I have been trying to look on Genes Reunited and Ancestry but am getting nowhere fast!

Where else can I look?

Thanks

How about looking here? There are loads of web pages for Australian family history.

you really need to look at the australian end -mercenary but the uk wasn't really bothered if you were leaving the country and only concerned with entry - same at other end -so trying looking at australian end for immgration papers etc

Join an Australian new group, and request a look up for any census at the time your gr uncles would be living there. Election rolls and so on. Ancestry.com is no help?

Just in case you missed this search area on ancestry. search.ancestry.com.au/iexec/Default.aspx?htx=List&dbid=1207
