PC occasionally resets clock display to GMT

Every so often - there doesn't seem to be a pattern as to when - my PC will take it upon itself to reset the time display (on the right of the toolbar at the bottom of the screen) back an hour to GMT. It happened this morning and I caught a brief glimpse of a popup for the first time, but it was gone in the blink of an eye.

Obviously I can manually reset the time through the Control Panel and it isn't a huge irritation, but I'm worried it may be symptomatic of something else which is about to become more nasty. Anyone encountered this? I'm using Windows XP.

There are a number of Windows programs, such as anti-virus, that do this kind of thing. For example Norton apparently can do it.

It's not easy but what you probably need to do is to hunt through your anti-virus and anti-malware software's settings and see if there's anything in there about protecting the computer's clock.

Thanks. I have Avast and Malwarebytes, both reliable. Used to have Norton years ago but dumped it.
