but I can't find any way to get rid of them. There's a "change background image" button at bottom left but I can't see the normal plain background.

I HATE this so much.

Can anyone help me please - I am not usually fazed by this stuff but I really cannot find the off switch.

I'm off out now, but when I'm back will be pathetically grateful for any help.

thanks

Today I noticed that google.co.uk had a picture of the Singapore CBD at night (and container port) as its background yet google.com.sg has a plain background.

I was wondering if I got the picture of Singapore as I was in Singapore. What picture did you get Cat?

A DIFFERENT RANDOM HORROR every time I log in, it's beyond ghastly. I am desperate.

I got the docks ones as well.

Changed to a smiley face post-it note now (5 year old#s choice )

Quite like them

It is only for 24 hours- I think they are allowing you to set you own background so they are promoting it for a day with various well known photos.

log into your google account, click change background and scroll down to the bottom where there is plain orange, grey or (thank god) white.
Agree, photos are awful.

Use the Google Toolbar. Never go to the home page. Problem solved.

Firefox has a search box - you can choose which search tool to use there - including Google (I rarely use Google except to test things for clients). No need to add a toolbar that way.

I think Google Chrome (browser) will use Google for searching by default if you type something other than a valid (or working) web address.

Thank you all for caring, I do appreciate the replies chaps!

Just got back and it's reverted to white without poking around, so I think Devon may have found the answer

(If they pull that stunt again I will be off to Bing permanently. Gits)
