Can anyone help, I dont want to be pounced on in a phone shop

My phone- nokia express music is due for an upgrade end of july ( or do i wait til nearer xmas maybe more new phones will be about?)
I dont know what to have. I'm torn...
iphone:
new one coming.
it does everything and more than i would ever use it for tbh.
I love technology though.
Worries:
Will it be too techy, about to become a mum will I ever have time to play with it?
Had a few ipods they dont live very long needed resetting etc- would I have the same apple problems with the phone?

Or...
Blackberry- know nothing about them, they have teeny, tiny keypads. Heard they go wrong alot or is this untrue?
Or its just another Nokia or something else. I dont want a girlie phone.

Help please!!

Really depends what you want / need most from your phone... If Nokia music is doing most things for you, ie calls texts and music, then I would definitely not jump to change phone straight away.

The new iPhone should be announced in June and we will find out some time after that when they come to UK shops, and what's actually new in them (rumours and samples make them appear quite nice, but if you have your hands full, will you perhaps drop that nice new shiny iPhone or have it knocked from your hand by new baby!)

On the one hand, don't want a girlie phone, on other, concerned about something too techie, so most important is what you want from the phone.

If you are likely to spend more time at home, maybe an iPod Touch (using home wi-fi) would mean you'd have portable internet access with something as nice as iPhone, but no temptation to take it out with you... and a phone that will do just the same sort of things (calls, texts, music) for those times you are out.

I think I will sit tight until new iphone has come to the uk and see what it actually does. My problem with something too techy would be something that has so much on it I would never use.

I use the nokia for internet/emailing, calling/txting. listening to the radio. The camera IMO is crap- I dont know why I expected more tbh. I dont use the music at all but would if I had iphone- am comfortable using itunes. Would use music more once baby is here I think.

When I say I dont want a girlie phone I mean pink and jewelled and doesnt do much of the above or if it does to a poor standard.

I'll wait until baby is here and review my needs. Perhaps to early to call what new needs I may have.

Thank you for your wise words. Feel more confident about the next steps now

I see there are about 4 different models with one of the lower number models having a 2 Mpixel camera. If you decide not to keep it, may find someone on MN {eg ME} interested in buying it. Camera non essential on phone - I've used Sony Ericsson K800i, Motorola and one other, each with cameras... but would probably buy decent camera for next holiday and not use a mobile.

Thanks for clarifying what you meant by girlie phone - I have seen various suggestions at different times - one comment suggested a flip-open phone was a bit girly, but when I looked at it, only 'different' aspect about it was the shape - nearly square so perhaps ideal for a small handbag - but technically with {larger} display on inner {protected} part and smaller status display showing battery level / signal strength / alerts for missed text or call / phone number for incoming calls, it seemed fine to me. Squarer shape was because it had a full QWERTY keyboard for texting.
