AMD Athlon or Intel Celeron Processor?

I need a new laptop but cannot remember what the difference is between the processors.

I currently have an AMD Turion.

What do I need to know?

Athlons, Turions, Core 2 Duos, X4, Phenoms...

To be honest sometimes I get confuzzled over all the options .

Historically AMD have tended to be better at lower power dissipation (thus longer battery life, less heat) then Intel. How true that still is, who knows.

You could try looking at a benchmarking web site to try get an idea of relative performance of specific parts.

The performance of any given laptop (or desktop) is not strictly down to just the processor, although it helps. But the graphics card, memory, disk all play their part.
