help vertical green lines on monitor

hi title says it all strange green lines have appeared on monitor I have tried a different monitor and the same thing happenned what do I try next new cable, clean dust out of pc or check graphics card or ???? any sugestions gratefully received thanks

Sounds like it could be the graphics card - sorry hardware not strongest area of knowledge, but it might be a memory problem (since it can be confirmed as visible with 2 different monitors, it's likely to be the graphics card end).

However, many machines have graphics on the motherboard, and some use RAM (from the main memory) too. So, would help to know if you have a specific graphics card (identified from drivers, perhaps) or one on the motherboard ?

Graphics cards can cost anything from 30 to 300 pounds depending on various factors, and you may be best visiting a PC shop to see if they can test with a similar graphics card... if the lines still appear with theirs, it may then be memory in the PC not on the graphics card.

Working deeper and deeper to identify what's causing lines will get more technical, not less, of course...

thanks - it was the graphics card - dh has fitted a new one - it was easier than we thought it would be
