You could get yourself a shortlist by using something like Ebay, Amazon or even Google, to cut list down to those with 4 GB RAM, Windows 7, and then hunt for ones with 2 GHz (since many use 1.6 GHz, to conserve battery life, I guess).

Sorry, I have no shortlist for myself, but could happily look at machines costing 3+ times what I paid for my last laptop

I tried all of those, but Amazon at least doesn't let you search that way, that I can find!

I have a nice new one from Dell... they're fairly good at letting you create your own package, and pricewise was good too

Maybe best to provide your shortlist to see if others have comments on those specific models (good, bad, or indifferent).
