Any ideas what I should do, short of clearing and reloading the R4 (because she'll lose the levels she got to in her games )

TIA

Update the firmware. I think version 1.8 mnshl is the newest. Although dd1's new one claims to be coming with v2.0.

ours have been really touch and go recently.

i find that a good clean of the little gold metal bit thingies (mind gone blank..can't remember what they're called!!) often will sort it out...

Thanks everyone!

It comes up with system data error. Please check NDS system data.

Her other games and DS's R4 are working fine

Off to rub anything gold with a tissue!

Well, rubbing the gold bits with a tissue has done no good, sadly.

Any other ideas?!

Aha!

Problem sorted by changing the date to before 13th April 2010

Hope that helps anyone else!

R4 are not the best ones to get by any means, I know plenty of people who have replaced them a few times.

I've still got a big old original GBA slot Supercard.
