Help,I cannot get system restore to work

I have tried about 5 different dates and it then comes up and says they cannot restore to that date.I have even gone right back to January but that wont restore either,anyone any idea what i should do.Thanks

its ok, through trial and error i now have it working.

Well done. I had that problem too. It is so annoying. The date is bold that means you should be able to use it as a restore date but you are not allowed to. I wonder what is going on inside that Windows thing.

i tried it in safe mode ,that didnt work so in the end i uninstalled my anti virus and hey presto i was able to restore ,this was after about 7 different attempts.Then i re-installed AV and all is well !
