Have you tried rebooting the machine?

If so which version of Windows and Outlook are you using?

Flowertop · 12/03/2010 11:17

Thanks BP. Yes have rebooted and using windows 2007

OK try this....

On the Start Menu there should be a box saying something like "Search programs and files".

Type in the following command and press return:
Outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Note that there's a space before the /

Outlook might open up on it's own, if not open it manually.

Any good?

Now message saying something along the lines of the server is not available....

Try the "fix it" link here: support.microsoft.com/kb/913843

Hi Lazydog, yes tried that but nothing helps. Does anyone know how to retrieve my email messages without having to open outlook. I'm in big trouble if I can't retrieve infor as not backed up. Really appreciate your help.

I'd advise a good read of: office.microsoft.com/en-ca/outlook/CH102499831033.aspx

Your emails should still all be intact. I would try the "scan and repair" tool (Scanpst.exe mentioned in the link I gave above) as, although your specific error messages don't logically point to a corrupted .pst, it does seem to happen frequently and I wouldn't necessarily trust a MS error message to make sense, LOL!

If you have another PC, you could also try exporting your Outlook data file to that.

Ok by creating a new profile i have managed to now open the outlook connection. None of my old inbox folders are there. If I do a search/inbox on my start menu I can see a load of .dbx folders which are my inbox folders. Can't open these but all there. Any ideas. Thanks so far

.dbx? They're Outlook Express files, not Outlook, aren't they?

Can you please confirm which you're using - thanks!
