NOOOOOOOO

how can you give up your iPhone?

What happened to it? Can it not be repaired?

Is there a big difference in price?

I would keep the iPhone cause I am addicted because I would not want to carry two devices around with me.

chopstheduck · 26/02/2010 16:18

I wouldn't want an iphone, because I don't want all my usic on my phone, and I like having two seperate devices. I use my itouch a lot connected to the audio system, or in the car. I cna use my blackberry at the same time to check email, surf, make calls. Blackberry beats iphone hands down for emails.

ErnestTheBavarian · 26/02/2010 16:19

just slipped out of my hand onto the drive as getting in car. glass screen shattered.

Don't want to give it up, but I face either 2 years of about ?75 per month or something stupid like that, or a one off of about ?160, then I'd probably get PAYG, have couple of old handys nocking about.

Not sure if I can step down, but it's a huge price difference... really undecided. wonder if a sim card is so expensive so I can do a trial run...?

i don't email that much, and wouldn't get a blackberry. I just need to decide bwn the convenience but cost of iphone, vs the cheaper ipod but 2 device option....

Have you asked in the Apple Store about repairing it? Look downcast.

GothDetective · 27/02/2010 11:23

Well with the ipod touch you can only connect to the internet when near a wifi source so you may not be able to use it as much when out and about. I thought contracts wre only £30 a month/

ErnestTheBavarian · 02/03/2010 13:47

well, my decision has been made for me. Dh took out the (2 year) contract (t'was a present), and the contract has to be terminated in writing with 3 months notice - this date was last week, ie missed it, so can't give notice again for at least a year so as I have to keep the contract, I'll be getting a new iphone, whether I want one or not... Only trouble is, dh trying to find the time to get to the shop, as it's all in his name, so only he can do it apparently. grrr.

I would really go to an apple store - I cracked the screen on mine and as it was still in warranty (1 year) they just gave me a new phone. OK it was probably a reconditioned one but you can't tell.

Book a genius bar appointment thing - even if they don't give you a new phone they may be able to replace the screen which is loads cheaper than buying a new iPhone. I think it's about £100 ish to replace the screen.

ErnestTheBavarian · 02/03/2010 14:09

he quoted me ?200 euros to replace the screen, and I have to renew the contract anyway, as missed the deadline, so in effect pay nothing more than I have to already as locked into contract but get new phone. I will get some sort of protective cover this time. It's almost 2 years old so no cover or anything. Might do what you say and wander into town nevertheless to speak direct to apple. ta

Definitely try Apple store, but make an appointment before you go otherwise you might not get seen. You can book online.

Mine got cracked and they just replaced the whole thing, it was only about a year old though.

I have insurance now and a protective cover.
