Samsung N10 netbook owners....come and tell me what I am doing wrong

I got mine a couple of days ago. Still getting used to it. The main problem I am having with it is when it is not plugged in and I leave it for a few minutes, it goes into some sort of standby mode (the screen goes black) and I can't get it to come on again. I end up having to close the lid and then open it again and press the on button. It is as if it has shut down rather than standing by.

Can anyone help me?

Does pressing the on button once quickly work?

It sounds like it's set to hibernate after just a few minutes when it's inactive and on batteries.

You can change the power settings so that it goes to standby instead, which is quicker to 'wake up' but will use the battery quicker. You can change it through the control panel. Is it running Windows XP? If so, go to Start- Control Panel & double click on Power options. On the Power schemes tab, you'll see the settings for different situations & you can choose one that suits you or change the various times & save your own scheme. If you don't want it to hibernate at all, click on the Hibernate tab & uncheck the Enable Hibernation box. On the Advanced tab, you can choose what happens when you close the lid or press the power or sleep buttons.

Thanks for that. It says it hibernates after 25 minutes so that is not it. It says it turns the screen off after 5 minutes so that is what is happening. But how do you turn itback on?

I just press the power button quickly on mine and it comes back on if it's in hibernation.

If the screen was black after five minutes, I'd just rub the mouse pad and it comes back on, I think.

I tried just moving the mouse and that didn't work. It is what I would have done on my old laptop.

You could try the enter key - that sometimes wakes the pcs at school when moving the mouse doesn't.
