Lost my photos and video off my phone :( Help! Is it a lost cause?

found the memory card sticking out a bit (the 'door' bit had come open). Its done this before, but I've just put it back in and reset the wallpaper. Tried to do it this time, to discover that all but 3 of my photos, and all the videos, have disappeared. The photos thatwere left were ones I'd taken but fiddled around with, altering the colours etc. But I'd also done this to some of the lost ones, so not sure if its relevant!

Is there any way of getting them back;could they just be hidden somehow? Apparently we have a card reader on our printer, but not for little cards like this.

Ok, well the first thing I would say is don't write anything more to the card.

No new pics, don't save anything to the card.

Then, have a look at the 'box of bits' that your phone came in (if you still have it lying around - we have a few.....) and see if there is a card adapter. Most (if not all?) mini cards can have an adapter, which means you may be able to read it in your card reader.

Step 2 is to download an 'undelete' program from the web.

When a file is deleted, what actually happens is that the first character of the file is replaced with a '?' and then files like this are ignored by Windows Explorer. Phone file systems may work the same way.....so if you get 'undelete' to look at your card reader, you might see files which can be restored.

Good luck!

Thank you, a ray of hope! I'm going to get the box down in a bit...

Ok, I hope you come back to this thread! I found an adaptor in the box as you predicted , but it didnt help at all. i also plugged phone stright into pc to see if it saw anything different that way, and found out that not only did it not see the photos, it didnt even recognise there was a card i think, because the 'card' option to click on had disappeared from the LG software . So its basically seeing those 3 photos because they've saved onto the phone not the memoerycard iyswim. Its as if the card just isnt there, however I approach it. It means its stuffed, doesnt it?

Hmmm.....it's possible that the card has been completely corrupted, so it's not being recognised, but I'd be surprised to be honest.

There's no chance (is there?) that you've put the card in the wrong way round? They are normally shaped so that's not possible, but sometimes these things do get put in wrong....

If the card isn't being seen when it's inside the phone, I think it's possible that the phone is knackered (or at least the bit that reads the card) but the card is solid-state so it's not likely to be broken.

Def not in the wrong way!
Well, if its the phone rather than the card, then would that be covered on my insurance? Because there's an excess, I could prob get the phone sorted free but not get a new card iyswim. But that means they'll lend me a brick to use in the interim

Well I guess it might be.

Personally I would take the card into the shop where I got the phone and see what they can make of it.

Most phone shops have card readers and they should at least be able to see if there are any files on it.......?

Yeah, I'll go that way tomo after Fantastic Mr Fox at the Vue!
