Laptop keyboard randomly missing leters

We have a Dell laptop, about 4 months old running Vista and IE7. For the last couple of weeks the keyboard has been really erratic but only on the internet - it misses letters out but not always the same one and sometimes within the same word (eg leters above!). In word documents it's fine, but when composing mails or MN posts it's being a real pain. Have corrected above, but here's the first sentence uncorrected

We ave a Delllaptop about 4 months ol running ista.

We've run various scans, all fine, hoovered the keyboard (!) but it's still being a pain, and only on internet pages. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

can't think why only on the net unless it's because having IE7 open is somehow causing it to run very slowly and miss keypresses. Maybe someone has a better idea, but you might look at CPU usage in Task Manager (probably CTRL ALT DEL)

Perhaps on pages with lots of adverts it has to deal with?

onagar - thanks for the idea, will have a look cpu. It's just as bad on my webmail page which has no ads at all

This seems to be a widespread issue with ie7 and IE8, but I've been surfing and unable to find a definitive answer so far, but it's intriguing so I will keep trying to find a solution then post up
