help with writing my mobile number PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for kids ID bracelet

I'm buying an ID wristband for each of my DS's before we go on holiday next week, but I need to know how to write our mobile number on it so that people in Florida can ring the number if they get lost.

Please help ASAP because they are being engraved and I need to send the order off because of the postal strikes.....

say your number begins 07813 you need to write

00 44 (0) 7813 ....

so if your number was 0798 222 2222

You would write it 0044 798 222 2222

In the US it'd be: 011 44 798 123 4567
(if your phone number is 0798 123 4567)

011 is the international dialling prefix there then 44 is the country code.

But is is def 00 or 011??? I want to be able to use the wristbands wherever we go on holiday - should I write +44 instead maybe???

It should be +44 (00 may work in some countries, but not everywhere).

In USA it is definitely 011 as the "international" prefix, then 44 for UK and everything after the leading 0, so JJ's

011 44 798 123 4567 will work in USA

+44 798 123 4567 is best for anywhere outside USA/Canada as everyone else can cope with the "+" meaning "your international prefix" (remember that about 70% of Americans have never been outside USA, and have no passport.

"a long trip" might be to one of the US coasts, as that could be a couple of thousand miles.

One final point - be sure your mobile is registered to be able to be used abroad.

It depends where you are in the USA but some UK phones will still not work there, because they use 1900 MHz and ours (Orange/ T-Mobile networks) use 1800 MHz.

Phones marked as tri-band or quad-band should work - dual-band might not.

Check www.gsmarena.com (search for your phone, see under "GENERAL" if it shows 1900 as well as 1800/ 900 MHz)

Might be worth asking a Florida tourist offices (by e-mail) about phone networks there, before you go.

Odds are (in my view) very, very, low.

Since the visit is to Florida, then spelling it out and giving them the correct US-format number "on a plate" guarantees it will work, with the proviso that the mobile is going to work there, too...

Surely would be much cheaper/more sensible to get some of the ones like hospital bracelets that you write on in biro? Especailly as if you have them done for ?USA, (011) they will be useless in other parts of the world.
