Facebook: is this possible?

I'd like to keep someone as a 'friend' but without their knowledge remove their access to my information, comments, posts, etc etc.

It's complicated - 'fraid I can't explain why I need to do this.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/05/2009 20:47

i didn't know you could do that.

Ponders · 25/05/2009 20:48

I don't think you can do that for an individual - am prepared to be proved wrong but I thought settings had to be for all friends (or none)

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 20:49

I'm hoping I can...or to do something without them noticing.

How's you today?

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/05/2009 20:51

very chilled today.
had a lovely proper long lie and went to a sculpture exhibition this afternoon.
you?

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 20:55

Not bad, pretty knackered! We had a lovely time in a park we don't normally visit. And then came home in time for dinner - but thanks to my propensity to cook in bulk all I had to do was heat up the bolognese and cook pasta and salad.

What's happening with your work situation, then?

OP posts:
princessmel · 25/05/2009 20:57

I think I know how.

Create a friend group with just her in it. Then restrict what that group can see, like wall posts, photos etc.

Voila.

Ponders · 25/05/2009 20:59

But won't she still be a friend independently as well? Can you have a friend who is only in a group?

warthog · 25/05/2009 21:00

limited profile list?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/05/2009 21:00

no news yet.
did speak to the new boss, who is supportive of me taking the issue further so i guess that's good.

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:06

Hmm...I might try that out, princessmel - perhaps I'll do a test first with someone I trust!

Ponders - good point, not sure.

warthog - how do you create a limited profile list?

I am really sorry for being so ignorant, especially as I get irritated by people being 'helpless'. I assure you I'm not doing that here - I hardly ever use fb but it has now become important for me to restrict someone's access without them knowing, yet still have them able to contact me directly if they want to.

Ohhhhlife is so complicated. Sometimes I wish I were an amoeba.

OP posts:
MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:06

dragon - so great that your new boss is supportive, I really hope that counts for something. How are you feeling about the whole thing?

i'm still keen to make the move.
after inviting 10 couples with kids to a picnic on sunday for DS2s birthday and not one person making the effort to come...i'm done here and want to move on.
i have no reason to be here anymore, we came here to surf.
now we have 2 kids and i don't fit in my wetsuit.

random · 25/05/2009 21:15

If you go into settings ..privacy ...profile...you can customise who sees what ..just type their name in

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:18

heyyyyyyyy Hoochie!

That's great to know, I'll do that. Thanks. How's life in the Hoochie household?

Oh, dragonbutter - that's awful about your DS2's birthday picnic! I had a shindig like that last year. In the end it worked well as I had heaps of work to do that week but it's still demoralising.

You must've been the size of a mouse when you moved to Surfland - in your photo you looked very slim, glam and gorgeous.

OP posts:
MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:23

Hmm...tried your suggestion random, but I can only get as far as viewing my profile through that person's eyes. How do I select the parts of my profile that they have access to?

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/05/2009 21:24

i may have shown you an old picture MrsMH, or at least one taken after i'd lost the baby weight after both boys.
not sure what you call this weight i'm carrying now, as i can't call it baby weight anymore.

fwiw, my wetsuit is a boys age 16.

i was shit at surfing anyway. too salty.

Ponders · 25/05/2009 21:25

I tried that, random, but although it showed me what the named friend could see currently, I couldn't see where you customise it???

(but then I really am a helpless infant where FB is concerned )

Ponders · 25/05/2009 21:26

Oh good, MrsMH, not just me then, glad you found the same! (although it doesn't help with your predicament of course )

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:27

Boys' age 16, eh? My arse is definitely too big for that.

Isn't it unjust that we turn our bodies into a living sacrifice to bring our children into the world, and then don't receive the repayment of a bod like Angelina during Tomb Raider?

OP posts:
MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:28

Ponders - you're in good company with your fb infancy! I might just try the other suggestion of creating a group.

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/05/2009 21:30

well, like i said, those days are gone.
for now at least.
have reached size 16 again, and am attempting a diet.
grrr.

random · 25/05/2009 21:30

There is a drop down menu ...next to each thing ...photos etc ...says customise

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:32

Good luck with the diet, m'dear. I've recently cut down my portion sizes, which ain't making a blind bit of difference and it's really annoying. I think I might actually have to exercise as well, can you believe.

grr with you.

Gotta go - DH wants to watch a film with me.

Nighty night one and all.

MrsMerryHenry · 25/05/2009 21:33

Thanks random - I'll take a look tomorrow.
