Please help me you lovely Mac-using people. I have an enormous library on itunes on my pc, how do I get it across? I have tried to export it as an xml file but it doesn't appear on my Mac itunes, what do I need to do?

...how large is your library?

Will it all fit on an iPod or portable storage device? If not do you have another back up facility (like Mobile Me, or the Virgin system, or a portable hard drive, or Time Capsule?)

Well. There are programs out there that'll let you copy from iPod to iTunes. However, when I tried them with my new shiny Mac.....it didn't work. Best thing to do I found is just put them on a large memory stick.

gerontius I found one that worked, but only allowed 1000 songs for free, so I have done that, having chosen the 1000 that I thought I didn't have on CD! I will try and put the rest on an external hard drive and see what happens.......

Easiest way - if you have one - is to copy them all to a hard disc drive and then copy them onto the Mac.

Second easiest is to use the iPod as a hard disc drive (I have forgotten how to do this, but DH will know if you want). There will be instructions on apple.com somewhere.

Third easiest (would work v well with 2 macs, but not sure about with PCs) is to plug the two computers together and try and transfer them that way,

But overall, it's much easier just to copy the files across than try and export them.

Thanks I have copied most of them via hard disk now... tedious but it didn't take as long as I had thought it would. The only bugger is, is that I now have to redo my playlist that I made for my running.
