Why does my smoke alarm beep when I walk under it with my vacuum cleaner?

It doesn't happen every time and vacuum cleaner is not always plugged in at the time.

Scares me everytime it happens as its so loud.

(if it makes any difference the smoke alarm is a Fire Angel/Smoke Angel one that is fitted in the overhead light socket)

Vacuum cleaner creating dust particles which float up to the alarm and trigger it, mistaking them for smoke particles?

Sounds as though it sucks

Boom Boom -feeble joke

We've created more dust in the past (on-going renovation of the house) but thats never triggered it though

Well it's Friday ...

Or just low battery? Doesn't really make sense either though

No, not a low battery as its the one that you have in the light socket so basically it is charged each time the light is on.

If by any chance it runs low it beeps every minute or so. This is just one beep when I walk under it with the Dyson.

Thanks for your thoughts though
