How do I find out what my Broadband speed is and what is a reasonable speed. I am not very IT minded and would be grateful for your assistance. Thanking you in anticipation.

You can type broadband speed test into google and it will bring up sites to test. Reasonable speed depends on what speed you are paying for and how far from the exchange you are.

There is a reasonable speedtester here

Also lots of other useful info here

Post your speed in here and people can compare to theirs.

Most people are on packages that are up to 8MB. Although up to 2MB would be ok for browsing and emailing. The higher speeds matter when you are downloading very large files or watching TV online. A very few of us are on up to 24MB packages.

Those are the speeds you pay for. What you get may be quite a bit less in practice

thanks onagar, I tried your first link but it said I was not logged in. I couldn't figure out where I was to log in so couldn't get any further with that but will try it again later. Quite recently when I was onto my IP they said I was on 1500 (is that 1.5 MB!!) which was quite low. I have had some rewiring done in the house which the Engineer said might improve my speed and wanted to check if it had improved any. Maybe I'll just give them a ring again.
