Disaster - my computer broke......yes I have a recent back-up;but how do I fix it?

I am doing a preboot system assessment (not what I intended but I knew you had to o something when it was powering up to get it to start in safe mode

So what do I do now?

It is now on a 'go slow'

If DH were around I'd get him on the case - but he's in Norway (work). Hope someone can help.
