xbox 360 - 3 red rings of death. Any hope?

bought for xmas 2006 so 2 and a bit years old. Somehow it doesnt look like we registered it under the guarantee when I made enquiries.

Is there any hope, something we can do? Worth sending for repair? Downloads or anything to try to fix it?

Or just lob it in the bin £280 down the drain?

When ours got that we sent it back to Microsoft. They sent us a refurbished one back and it cost about £80.
If you give them a ring they can confirm the price with you before you decide to send it off.

thanks. I emailed them and they told me about going to LIVE and sorting it out on there. It asks for my registration and it wont accept any of the serial codes, model numbers etc. I dont think we can have registerd it at the time of purchase, and i no longer have the receipt or anything. I remember it was all being hidden for xmas that year and expect all the bits of paperwork got tucked away somewhere .

So without receipt, or warranty, Im not sure what they will do for me. I am happy to pay the £80 like you Wilts, I am just pissed off that I have no proof that we bought it from new.

Ours was out of warranty when it went back as well, actually it must be about our third now

It should not matter that you didn't register it as you would be paying for repairs anyway.

ok thanks. will get on to them tommo. would be good if we could get it fixed as we have masses of 360 games and that would be such a waste.

quick update, thanks to all of your advice I have phoned them this morning and will be getting a free repair as the ring of death warranty is 3 years, so just went wrong at the right time!

it was registered for warrnty by the way, was looking under my name, not DH
