X box - it wont read discs, anyone taken theirs apart to clean it???

Our X box wont read discs anymore, looks a bit dusty. Does any1 know how to open it up to clean? OR any other advice please?

Check the discs for scratches and give it good sharp blow in the tray opening I wouldn't advise taking it apart though

Never opened an xbox but I have cleaned lots of DVD writers by opening them up and very carefully wiping the lens.

Definitely a last resort though and anyway the player in an xbox might be harder to get to. In a PC you don't have to remove other things to get the DVD player/writer out.

Before I started opening them up I tried blowing in the slot to move the dust away. The trouble with that would be that your breath is damp. Don't they make an aerosol thing that blasts clean air out for this kind of situation? Not saying it would work, but it might be worth considering

loads of good suggestions, we tried all of the above. There's a video on the internet of a man showing in slow motion exactly how to open one up so we might try that tomorrow (I say we but will leave it to DH I think, don't want to get the blame for breaking it )
