msn problems - anyone know how to stop this?

I am not 13 but MSN is pretty important for me for staying in contact with friends and family.

A few weeks ago I started to get odd messages about parties and some sexy messages too from a friend of mine and knew instantly it was some sort of prank messaging. They were easy to spot as we know each other very well and it sounded nothing like her!

I have now been told that these kind of messages are being sent under my msn name now...

e.g - I appeared to be online today when in reality I was at an art gallery at the other side of the city I live in. 'I' then sent my Mother a message inviting her to see photos of what 'I' spent all of Valentines night 'getting upto'????

Obviously a modern prank call invented by a thirteen year old and really annoying and rather nasty!!!!!

Anyway - Does anyone know how we can get rid of it pleeeeaaase???? Or at least the name of this problem so I can google it?

Thanks for any input!

mmmm????? It is a tricky one...

DH said he will look on a few geeky forums tomorrow to help me out - I hope I can sort this out I am in real panic because I talk to my very shy, extremely sweet and innocent 14yr old cousin on msn and am hoping with every inch of my being that these messages aren't being sent to him. I would be so so and so would he!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!

I had a virus on windows live messenger this week (different one, but similarly annoying) and a free download of anti-malware software from malwarebytes.org sorted it. Not the same programme, or the same virus, but, it's worth a try, as it's free...
