Second Life - Downloaded it but not getting anywhere

Apparently, it's the new virtual world complete with university lectures and live music as mentioned in one of the intelligent papers today.

So I've found the site, downloaded the software (I think!) and then nothing! Seems that I don't have the correct software to support the view.

Any tech MNers out there? Please give it a go and let me know how it's done, as the browse through looked interesting enough to give it a go.

doesn't it suggest any software you need to download? you could try re-installing it

Don't use it but there is a page here of requirements to run it It mostly sounds like you need a relatively recent graphics card. (that would let me out I expect)

When you downloaded the software did you then run it to install it? It should have mentioned then if you needed anything else.

Thanks. Will try to install again. It's been a very long time since I attempted anything more demanding than a tin opener! LOL. It mentioned something about "Protocol"

Would be interested to know if anyone has managed it successfully though.
