Lovely FIL has given me his laptop as mine is slowly dying a death.

I have my old laptop (this one that im typing on now)connected to Broadband via Belkin wireless router, I cant remembr how I set it all up (over 5 years ago).

Im trying to set my new laptop to the same network but failing miserably.

Can someone give me a 'real idiots' guide to setting it up? Its probably very simple im sure

You need the software disc to install the correct software for the router.

You shouldn't need software.

ScummyMummy · 08/03/2009 17:42

Can you do it via the control panel?

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 08/03/2009 17:44

What bit are you having trouble with? Is the wireless adapter switched on? Is it 'finding' your network?

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 08/03/2009 17:45

I can't find an idiots guide. The main thing is figuring what password you have on the network. Do you know what model your router is?

ginnny · 08/03/2009 17:48

Control Panel, then Internet Options, then click the Connections tab and press Setup, then it should guide you through it.

The password/key is printed on a sticker on the bottom of our router/modem. Took me hours of frustration to discover this!

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 08/03/2009 17:58

Just seen that it's Belkin.

Does setup.belkin.com/guide.html help?

I have managed to do it- im typing on my new laptop now.
