I have just got an iPod shuffle and am setting it up for the first time. iTunes seems to have decided to load me up with some albums/songs (jazz and world music) that I haven't asked for - is this normal? Where have they come from? Am I supposed to pay for them?

Yes its normal, you don't have to pay for them, just delete if you don't want them. Think its just to give you a taster if you're too impatient to wait til your own stuff is on it. Or obviously to check if it works...
