As an example a typical music track is 5MB, and a 2 hour DVD quality film is 1GB

GB is the size of file. 10 GB is ok if you tend to surf the net, less adequate if you want to download programmes a lot.

How about watching BBCi & the odd U-tube?

Try here for starters. Its all to do with sending and recieving stuff over t'internet I think.

I need an internet usage monitor

Presumably I will need one on each laptop - will this be expensive?

Well I think I am stuffed - between all the spam I get & MN I use well over 10gb a month

So I spend between now & april (when the new charge comes in) culling my spam & monitoring my usage to see if I can manage on 10gb

10gb isn't a lot, but for just email and browsing should be enough. I'm not sure how much BBCi uses, but that will eat into it faster.

Hmm you say april so not 10gb a month then? Maybe you best look at a different package.

KatyMac · 17/02/2009 22:56

I am guessing we use at least 10 gb - DD is 11, I'm on MN, DH watches BBCi, did I mention I'm on MN

& now I can't find out how much I currently use (they won't answer the phone or accept an email which is not about a 'topic') grr

Don't worry about spam and MN, they won't make much difference. It's only BBCi that will use that sort of bandwidth. BT's marketing pages suggest that you should be able to stream about 25 hours of BBC iPlayer per month.

OK - I managed t get an answer out of them - we use about 5 GB a month
