When I start to type in www.mu it automatically brings up a list of hundreds one or two mumsnet pages I have visited, including the thread title. I wouldn't mind if it brought up a list saying www.mumsnet.com/56gj83hfk439 or some such thing, but having it bring up a thread title www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/695615-i-have-got-a-huge-enormous-foolish-innapropriate-crush-on isn't that great on a shared computer.
I'm using windows xp if that makes a difference?

Try deleting your history regularly. You will then need to re-type the mn address in but it should get rid of all those pesky drop-downs.

There are two related things so I'll put them both here.

Go to Control Panel - Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced Tab on the far right at the top.
scroll down the list it shows you and UNTICK use inline autocomplete

Now click on the Content Tab at the top
Click on the Autocomplete Button.
Untick Web addresses

For more privacy you may want to untick forms which is where a box on a page asks you to put something in and it offers you a choice of words you typed in other boxes

Don't untick usernames and passwords or it will forget them all.

That's great, thankyou.
