Try www.ebuyer.com

I've looked on ebuyer but the specs baffle me. I need someone to say "this is a good one"!!!!

Thanks Herb, it's bewildering and DH says "just buy one" but it's not that simple (and I'm not good at spending money on myself!!)

I hear good things of the Asus EE PC 900 - if you go for one with Linux on rather than XP, then you will get more for your money.

I think I want XP but probably only because I don't know Linux and I'm familiar with XP.

You're not likely to find a new standard-size pc with XP on the high street any more - and for Vista you really should have 2Gb of RAM, or it'll be pretty sluggish.

Most of the mini notebooks like the Eee have either Linux or a version of XP, though there are a few with vista. I saw the new range of Toshiba minis at the BETT show (Education technology show) yesterday & they looked pretty good. Big disadvantage minis though is that they don't normally have an optical drive (CD/DVD drive)

Rusty (my fellow bear) - thanks for that - it's a minefield out there. I will investigate further!
