Is there a way of clearing the phone line if someone has phoned me?

The phone rang just as I was thinking about phoning my mum. There wasn't anyone on the line just some foreign music (euro-pop style). Everytime I pick up the phone to try and call out it's still there. How do I force it to disconnect?

Was going to say use a mobile to ring your phone company and ask them to disconnect but I guess you don't have a mobile otehrwise you could ring your mum from that!

Thanks tttt, it disconnected itself after about 10 mins fortunately, so I can give her a call now. I could have used my mobile to phone mum, but we have free calls to Ireland from our landline at weekends and the calls usually last a good 30 mins.

unplug the phone then reconnect
