why can't I downlaod the photos from my new camera? Please help, going insane!!

DH bought me a lovely new camera for christmas. I have installed the new software and all seemed fine. Connnected the camera and it won't load the photos and I can't understand why?!

I have adobe photoshop loaded onto my machine(used this with my old camera) is this why? It seems to want to open that and finepix(the new one)

It's driving me crazy.Any ideas on how to fix whatever the problem is?

hi it is a bit of a cop out, but we go fed up with our camera transfer software and bought a card reader, you just pop the sd card in it and you can copy the files across onto your computer.

For some reason my computer won't recognise my new camera when my scanner is plugged in too. Can you take out all of your other stuff, MP3s or whatever?

my DD has that problem with finepix

although it works fine for me and DP

haven't figured out how to fix it yet

but you should still be able to copy them onto your pc

by going into windows explorer and copying them direct from the camera

These things can be deeply weird.

Do you get a popup in the bottom right, saying something new device detected, when you plug hte camera in? My MIL's camera is only detected about 1 time in 5. We have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in until it decides to talk to the computer.

although we now use a card reader as it's so much less frustrating ...

... but the card reader built into my PC won't recognise the CF card from my wife's camera, so we have another card reader for that
