Can comebody tell me why this dvd won't play in PILs' new DVD player?

Say it's 'incompatible' which I guess is to do with area codes. But the dvd is region 2 (europe) and the player is new and bought in the UK and all the PILs' other dvds play fine on it - so that would indicate it's a '0' region dvd player wouldn't it??
The dvd plays fine in our own dvd player (which is older than the PILs').

I'm confused! help please!

I don't see why it would be incompatible, but in case it is due to region codes if you post (or google) the model there is probably a key combination to make it play ANY region.

Thanks - but I can't find a code for this partic model. How would I find out what region the DVd player is set up for? When I look for the payer on amazon it's described as multi-region. Is there any reason FIL would have bought a non-multi-region one from somewhere?

It's a panasonic posh-jobby that records and all that. FIL bought it from an independent retailer a month or so ago but it's not local. He bought it when on one of his driving jobs so it's about 200 miles away

Is the disc slighty damaged? Or old? DH is into gadgets and has a posh dvd player, none of dd1's dvd's will play on it. Yet they all play perfectly fine on her £14.99 Tesco dvd player

DH says it's because the lens on posher ones are more sensative in order to give better picture quality.

The dvd's brand new straight out of the wrapping. Like I said before, it played fine on our player. FIL kept getting the 'dics incompatible' message.

(Maybe it's the DVD itself that has offended the player - it is viva la diva with kathryn jenkins and darcy bussell after all Well, the PILs like it)
