What is wrong with my monitor?

After a while it 'rolls' and seems to go opaque (although I can just about see some things under the the 'opaque')

It dosnt do it all the time it seems to get tired and do it, I have then have to turn the monitor off, and wait for it to sleep, after about 10 mins I can turn it back on again.

It seems to do it more if there is a lot of colour on the page ie photos, or if I play a game.

Any ideas.

Or do i go buy a new monitor.

If its a CRT monitor you may want to consider an LCD replacement.

Do you have another computer that you can test it with? Can you turn the monitor on and see if it goes wrong without a source?

In terms of best buy lcd's, personally I would recommend main brands, but essentially your looking at around £170 for a decent one e.g. Samsung, LG etc. Online retailers may be a better bet as they are considered a commodity item now a a days.

Not sure I would be keen to recommend pc world telling you which monitor to get, and in fact you will pay a premium unless they will price match. Happy to offer advice if you tell us your budget and also your computing, profile. ie surfer, word user, gamer etc.

maddoguk Thank You, it is a Samsung LCD it is about 18 months old. I have tried it with another PC and it still does it.

ok it could be the back light, check the warranty they are either 12 months or 24 months typically and insist on a replacement.
