have just done a malwarebytes scan - it found about 1000 infections!!!! Quarantined them BUT I still have ppcb_32 in my startup - that's bad isn't it?

Before anyone thinks I know what I'm talking about.... but I know to check what programmes are running in the Startup. I did that yesterday, found ppcb_32 and p2pmax, googled them, looked like I shouldn't have them so have used malwarebytes just now.

My browser's behaviour seems more normal now BUT I just checked the startup menu and ppcb_32 and p2pmax are still there.

Shall I go to programmes and delete them, or do another scan or what?

Really want to check my internet banking but afraid someone might have a keylogger and find out my password...or is that not how it works?

Would appreciate any input from you lot.

oh god, am being deluged by trojans and droppers which my Avira antivirus is telling me about. This hardly ever happens so I am sure there's something still in my system.

Do another scan, and repeat until you're clear. We had malware, and were advised by IT in work to just keep scanning. Took ages but it worked.

My Dp does voluntary work for a malware removal site. He's at work at the moment, but this is the site he helps with.

I think you have to join, but they're great at helping people with viruses etc, and they talk you through it bit by bit.

I'd get it checked before logging onto your bank etc, just to be on the safe side.

Did another scan last night and will keep doing it. Puter much better though still slow.

If you have been hit a number of times by various scams, after cleaning out your machine fully, go to any site that might hold any financial records or info and change your passwords/log in. I use a 1password system that randomly generates really long and complicated passwords safely which helps too.
Alternatively - go buy an Apple Mac and (almost) never ever be bothered with viruses again (most viruses are Windows based and not had an attack on any of our machines in 10 years thanks to switching from PC to Mac. Our servers get the odd hack but viruses just do not work) Worth considering when you next upgrade your computer.
