Can someone explain how you save game progress on ds lite,do you need to have a memory card like a ps2 or does it just save to itself,complete amateur here!

ds3 has ds for birthday,I need to understand how it works.Do I need to buy a memory card as well as the ds or does it just save onto its own hard drive ..can someone explain it all?

I asked ds3 aged 8 and it depends on the game sometimes they just automatically save sometimes theres a save icon and sometimes you have to get to a certain place.....

it saves the games on the game cartridges, not in the console

But can you only save if you have a memeory card or something or is just the ds and the game enough.DS seems to think he can't save any games unless he has a memeory card but I think he may be confused with his brothers psp
