I've been looking at buying this as a gift but there's other things that go with it and I'm not sure exactly what I need to get. I know there's an expansion pack but I saw a game card on Amazon as well. Arrrgh it's so confusing!

The Wrath of the Lich King is the latest expansion so you'll need World of Warcraft too. You'll also need the previous expansion (Burning Crusade) for it to run.

TBH, if the recipient hasn't got anything, then I'd just get World of Warcraft on its own (or there might be cheaper packs combining the expansions - I know there was for Burning Crusade, called the WoW Battle Chest) and see if they like it first or you could be spending a LOT of money (and bear in mind the recipient also has to pay a subscription too, so you have to be really sure they want to do that!)

Oh, the game card will be a pre-paid subscription for a number of months - useful if giving to someone who doesn't have a credit card.

thanks rubberduck. He has world of warcraft already. It sounds like a right palava. Why can't it just be one game!

Because then they wouldn't make so much money out of it.

Because if it was it would be very boring! You'd get to level 60 and not want to play your character anymore. They look at expanding it when there are lots of people waiting to go up a few more levels!

If the person you're thinking of has the game and the first expansion but not WotLK, then they will probably be over the moon to get a copy for Christmas. If they buy game cards rather than having their subs on DD then they will really appreciate a game card (BTW, Game is cheaper than HMV for game time).

Thanks Tinkerbelle.
