What's the best way to back-up photos??

They're all stored on my PC at the mo and I never get around to printing them, but I'd be devastated if I lost them. Sooo...what's the best way to back them up, onto a memory stick? CD? DVD? I have no idea and I'm sure it should be really obvious!
Thanks!

What I would it is to back up the whole of your hard drive so that way you have all your docs. emails, pics etc...

oooh were same here.

how do you back up hard drive or whatever?

FabioTheLiterateCat · 27/11/2008 13:35

Never take any photos.
Only sit for portraits.

carbonite

WindUpBird · 27/11/2008 13:50

ok....you're right, I should back up the whole of my hard drive...but onto what? Sorry if I am being incredibly dim, I'm asking here so I don't have to go into a shop and look really stupid!

Get yourself an external hard drive. You should be able to get 500GB for about 50 quid.

Also back up the really vital stuff onto DVD and store those DVDs "offsite" at your mums, your best mates or anywhere else where they'll survive a fire that completely destroys your house.

WindUpBird · 27/11/2008 21:22

Ah, carbonite! Will decide whether to do that or get an external hard drive.
Inspired idea re having a DVD of vital stuff stored elsewhere, thank you!

Yeah, it happened to me with my first laptop- got stolen and lost thousands of pics, emails, essays, personal thoughts...etc..

Since then I have religiously backed up my laptop to the external hard drive every week!

I set reminders so i don;t forget.

Worth the investment!
