I am officially in laptop hell...come and sympathise/advise?!

So last week DH got some virus from Bebo which I think we managed to clean up, but it knocked out our internet connection.

Managed to get that fixed then DH announces that he's been having problems attaching documents to emails - nothing shows up in My Documents.

He's right - everything in My Documents is invisible, but you could still find it through WORD, so I have backed it all up.

Apart from My Pictures - which is officially gone not in recycle bin, nothing coming up in searches, just vanished with all my pics...

I am in process of backing up Outlook Express as I think we will have to re-install everything on the machine with my 'rescue' disk - am I right?

I have done umpteen virus scans but things just keep cropping up making me think it is well-embedded in the system.

And I don't even really know if what I am doing is right, but I can't just pop to a professional as we are very remote...

might be time for the dreaded reformatting. But its possible any virus is in your backed up files too unless you did those before something horrible happennend.
