im having HUGE problems with 3 broadband, made numerous phone calls at national rate to their useless call centre, spent over 4 hours on the phone to them!!!!
modem has been sent off and returned to tell me theres no fault...
so the problem is....
although my modem is getting a signal and tells me its ready to connect,it wont connect!
BUT this is only at my home address,i took my laptop and the modem to a different address and it works fine..
have tried all 3s trouble shooting to no avail and actually ended up putting teh phone down on them as am extremely irritated by it!!!
whats wrong with it?!!!!

my BIL is a senior manager with 3 and he says sometimes they piggy back the signals on other carriers. I thought this was just phone signals but apparently not. it may be you have a weak signal area. and so the modem cannot find a strong enough signal?
there is a website called saynoto0870 where you can look up non geographical numbers and come up with a geographical number or sometimes a freephone number www.saynoto0870.com

if this is the number you are calling; 08707 330 320 then the only number listed for this is a mobile number, figures as they are a mobile phone company 07782 333 500

thier head office is listed as 01628 765000.

there is a customer services number listed but it doesn't say what for but as its an 0800 number maybe worth a call? 0800 3586795

very strange then. will ask BIL later when he gets home if he knows why

I use Three Broadband via my mobile phone. I've set it to use UMTS rather than Dual and it seems more stable under that setting. Not sure you can do that setting with the USBStickThingy, but may be worth experimenting with any settings you can get at.
I find that I have to reboot the phone about once a week. You may need to do the same with USBStickThingy - remove it, reboot computer, once fully functioning, reinsert it USBStickThingy.

smeeinit, asked BIL.
he said if you have the old style modems, (he did tell me the codes for them but that was a couple of hours and a 20 mile drive ago!!) something like N or Z beginning, then you need to get the long wire out of the box and use that if that makes sense? if you have the USB stick then again you can use the long wire to increase the signal gain. the other thing he said was that 90% of the problems like this he comes across is to do with the building you are in? some older style houses have lots of metal in the walls and if the antenna for the signal is say in front of your house and you are at the back, then the metal in the wall disipates the signal. this goes for other types of walls too but to a lesser extent. you probably have tried this but go to the opposite side of your house. so if you are in a back room try connecting in a front facing room or vice versa. he also said sometimes there are progrmans on computers that stop usage but as you can get online elsewhere with the same computer/modem I doubt this will be the problem. if this doesn't work and you get no joy from their customer services, he did say you could call him at his work. he is extremely busy so would prefer you to try the above first and see what happens. if you do need to call him personally, let me know and I'll let you know his work number.

misi, wow that so good on you and your very kind BIL. thanks you very much.

i have tried everything and have to say that 3 customers services have been utterly appaling, ive spent over 5 hours on the phone trying to resolve this, spoken to over 15 different people and done the same procedures over and over again and got nowhere..
ive made it clear that if its not sorted by tuesday im off to the 3 store to hand the modem and laptop back.
