Printer problem now that we've changed to MAC

We had a HP Photosmart 300 and one Windows PC, photos came out great. Then we changed to MAC, have now 2 MACs and problems when printing photos. The colours are just wrong, sometimes too blue, too green, then lack definititon. This happens from both computers, not just one. Did all the calibrating, cleaning of print heads etc but no change so we thought the printer was the problem. Have now got a new printer HP Photosmart 7460 and problems again, colours are wrong and photos lack definition, everything looks very smooth. Photos are perfect though when looked at on iPhoto. Anyone have an idea what the problem is??? It is really annoying me as I have lots of photos to print but can't do anything.

Sorry first printer meant a HP Photosmart 3300.

Question - and this may confuse you more, and if it does, I'm sorry

When you print - what is controlling the colour space, the printer or iPhoto? The colour space is how things define what the colours look like on your monitor and your printer. It sounds to me like the two aren't talking the same language.

Try this walkthrough which helps you set your display correctly and give the control of colour management back to your Mac and not the printer. If there's still no improvement post again, and I'll have a deeper rummage

Hi RubberDuck,

I think things have improved - thanks for your link, that is very good. I've also played around a bit with photo and print quality and they now do come out much better.
