Do Good Sales People in technology & solutions market really exist?

Just wondering, it seems to be an impossible combination!

Yes - are you looking for one or more??

I'm looking for one. But have had 2 not-so-good sales people that have been expensive mistakes. I know it is a problem for the industry.

I know a few very good ones, and some crap ones too.

So where do I find them? what do they look like?
Seriously, so many prospective sales people promise the world and then fail to deliver. We cannot afford to be let down again.
It's a small IT consultancy, an MCS house. We need someone to drive our sales & marketing process and win new business.

Are there any avenues anyone can suggest I pursue? agencies / headhunters / networking sites / events?
