on the side of the box, or inside where the battery goes

Your phone company can tell you - they know everything about your phone as soon as you use it

There is usually a barcode on teh side of the box, or inside the battery compartment.

It is a really really long number.

I know on Nokias you can dial

*#06#

and it tells you the IMEI.

There is probably a similar thing for most makes.

Hmmm. Threw box away...
Inside the battery bit there are loads of different numbers. One says IC: xxx, another FCC ID: xxxx and the last has no title but is v v long with two forward slashes seperating the numbers.

Try the code.

Just tried it on my Sony Ericsson and it works.

you can do the *#06# on all phones and the number will come up - its a 15digit number

artichokes · 30/09/2008 21:16

Saint George - That worked! Thank you .

(DH v impressed by power of MN)

The IMEI was supposed to be able to let operators block stolen 'phones but they never put it into practise as they were concerned about loosing revenue!!
