Microsoft Office Word 2007 question

Well, for whatever reason I can't seem to type into a new document, whenever I try to type, nothing appears but it tells me at teh bottom that " this modification is not allowed because the selection is locked " well, so, how the && do I unlock it then?

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...it is problably really simple when you know how....sigh

Hmm.. not sure. I love word 2007, but then it has never done anything so annoying to me.
Have alook on the ribbon thing, on options then advanced and see what looks not right.

I have no idea what I must have supposedly clicked in order for this tohappen, sigh...

hm, the only thing I seem to be able to do with the ribbon is to minimize it, no options/advanced options, sigh

I am such a numpty.....had to registre the programme and voila it worked...honestly how blond can I get, lol
