Host is

OxyUK.

My website is still there, butI can't log into collect webmail (or to cpanel).

It appears as though they haven't paid their cPanel license fee or whatever.

There is a wierd message on teh OxyUK homepage (something like a new look is coming soon ). Gives an adress for technical enquiries, which also isn't working.

I am not too worried about moving to a new host TBH...it is hardly going to cost me a fortune...how do I go about doing this if I can't get on to cpanel to download my files (website was created using the host's wizard).

I could download my source info I assume and upload it to someone else.

How do I find out what is happening. Anyone who moves in these kind of circles know where to find out?

Ta

From Google's cache:

--------
OxyUK Technologies Limited is no longer trading.

Existing Clients
Your service has been transfered to our new brand, you can contact us via our helpdesk if you have any queries.

support.oxyuk.com
--------

Except support.oxyuk.com is dead too.

Get a cPanel home directory backup and run away very quickly. Don't look back.

Yes that is the message I got.

When I tried to log into my cPanel it was suggesting that cPanel wasn't available on that server.

How do I do that?

Do I just download teh files that are in the folders that are public?

Ah, if cPanel is dead you can't get a cPanel backup. You need to think about a few questions:

What is it you want off the server - just the web site?

Who controls your domain registration?

How much time and trouble is it worth to you to get anything off that server - you could just start again with a new host?

Whatever you want, you need to do it quickly as it is my guess that the server will go off-line as soon as their data centre finds out they have stopped trading.

cpanel is back, as is webmail....so I can get access to my website files...

As for my domain registration, that was done through OxyUK - does this mean they control it? Or have they just brought it on my behalf. If I went to Fasthosts for example could I still host at my domain?

OK, download a home directory backup while you can (google for cpanel home directory backup if you need help).

Do you have any databases set up? If so, take a backup of these too using phmMyAdmin because the home directory backup won't include this.

Do a whois lookup at somewhere like whois.domaintools.com/ to find out how your domain is registered. Domain registration services are not supposed to stop you transferring your domain away from them, but they may try to charge you a fee.

Many thanks,

I have downloaded teh files from my "home" folder.

Looking on that link it says the registrant is OxyUK. Does this mean that the regsitration belongs to them on paper?

Yes I am afraid it does. You should try a more relevant forum for more help - look at
this site for instance (that article makes some important points itself).

TY.

i shall investigate further.
