Can you tell me how to make a new email address? I have a BT account

I am separating from my husband and we have always had a btopenworld joint email address which includes both our names. Obviously I need to change it but I'm not sure how.

When I log onto the BT Yahoo page it gives the "web mail" address which has always been something different (although any mail goes into both) starting with the word "emsemble" - no idea why.

Does anyone know what I need to do make a new address?

You really need someone who uses btopenworld, but in the meantime there is some help on www.btopenworld.net/
if you type email subaccount into the searchbox.

A subaccount might be ok for what you want.

Go to My Account (for your security, you may need to re-enter your password). Click Manage sub-accounts. You'll see how many you've created and how many more you can create. Scroll down and select Create a new sub-account. (If the button isn't there, it means you have already reached your maximum number of sub-accounts.) Enter your chosen username, password and add details of whoever will be using the account. Click Create sub-account.

Depending on your circumstances you might want to change the password on the primary account as it will still work and using it would almost certainly allow access to the subaccount.

Open a new account with a free web-based provider, eg hotmail, yahoo.

That way, you can access it anywhere. Helpful if your ex decides to change the password on the pc/laptop to deny you access. (Can you tell that I have bitter experience of this?!)

You need your existing e-mail addy to verify the new account, and will obviously need to delete these e-mails immediately.

I can't do hotmail. The name makes me feel sick because DH used those for his early fuckwittage behaviour.

No don't do that. Your BT Openworld account and his are linked together and there is always the chance he will get access to the master account using your BT account number.

If you don't want hotmail go for gmail, or a separate Yahoo webmail account like others have said.
