anti virus xp help!!

How do I get rid of it? I've tried to download virus removers but the virus keeps interfering and I cant get rid.

Thanks. I did look at that link but couldnt download what i needed to.

However I have spent about 6 hours today searching my computer and finally deleted all the sodding things. It had found it's way into very obscure places.

Do you know what it is? I have it on my laptop,it frightened the life out of me. I'm using a free 90 day trial with windows one care to keep it at bay. It's just put a block on it to stop it popping up. I have no idea how to get rid of it.

antivirus xp 2008. It came under a couple of names - series of letters. I had to go into the registry and delete it a couple of times from there. It had attached itself to other files and doesnt show up on a scan.

I then had a window stuck on my background adn had to delve in to the recesses of my computer again to find a start up program that had started last night and delete it there too.

TOok me about 6 hours to get rid of it.

bugger - it's still on my pc. Google keeps defaulting to strange pages and now telling me I have the antivirus 2009!

You are going to need to pay for some proactive anti-virus software. The free editions of AVG etc. are good at what they do (which is scan for viruses that are embedded in files on your PC) but they do NOT provide any protection against reinfection.

I use Kaspersky because I got a good deal on a 3 user license (3 PCs at home to protect) - if you buy on line at PC world it is much cheaper than if you go to the shop. But you should be OK with the basic paid-for versions of AVG, McAfee or whatever.
