How do you get a chicken out of a DVD Player!

Not a real one clearly. DVD player keeps saying NO DISC when there is in fact a disc. DD1 has now informed me that dd2 put a fuzzy felt chicken in the slot. I really want to watch my film tonight as DH is away.
Please help.

tweezers?

something slim with sellotape stuck on it to stick it to and pull it out?

SheikYerbouti · 11/06/2008 17:35

Unplug the DVD player and turn it upside down.

Probably un-orthodox, but it works for us when DS1 "helpfully" puts 3 discs in at once and the eject button won;t work.

Good ideas thanks. Will try when they're in bed. They keep saying "sorry" and trying to 'help'.
Keep any ideas coming though. One of 'em has got to work else we have to sell a child to pay for a new DVD player

Sheik - I think I love you!!! It worked. I can now watch stardust a very highbrow subtitled movie . . . ..
Thanks NAB too I had a ruler and roll of sticky tape at the ready.

PMSL @ 'chicken'

altho am mighty glad to see it was 'just' a fuzzy one. My mind was boggling at the thought of how a whole one got shoved in....

mistypeaks · 11/06/2008 21:13

a) EddieBritt - I needed attention
b) NAB - like I would forget you
c) Psycho - Don't underestimate my demons daughters. Next time it probably will be a whole one (possibly alive too - the next door neighbours have just started keeping chickens). And believe me when I say I was not mightyly relieved when I discovered it was 'just' a fuzzy one
BUT the main thing is. It's solved. I watched the film. It was Stardust. It is a kids film. I should be duly embarrassed. I'm not. It was the best damn film I've seen in years!!!
Glad I livened up a couple of evenings without resorting to :- AIBU I ran over an old lady in a disabled bay. She was eating a sausage roll drinking a fruit shoot and eating nestle chocolate. My DH wasn't interested as he was too busy surfing for porn whilst asking me to iron his pants.
btw I read the Daily Mail

mistypeaks · 12/06/2008 08:30

I loved Robert De Niro in it too. Soooo funny to see him in a totally different role. I'm watching it again to play spot the well known person. There were so many people I half recognised.
