Geeky stuff

Is there some special gadget that means I can copy stuff from my sky+ box?

dd was on springwatch tonight and I've got it recorded on our Sky+ box but the sky boxes never last that long so at some point it will break-down and I'll lose dd's star performance. So I figure there must be some expensive bit of kit that will transfer the contents of my sky box to a recordable DVD? I just don't even know what to search for so any ideas appreciated.

thanks.

argos had a recordable dvd player on offer the other month for under £40 IIRC.

I asked the Sky engineer this recently (after our box went pop and we lost all our hard drive contents!)

He said you can copy to a DVD recorder with scarts/cables supplied, but not to a laptop or PC unless you buy special decoding software, as Sky encode their programmes especially movies and sports.

So I plan to buy a DVD recorder so we don't lose our entire collection of Something Special again!

LOL same here hangingbelly - I think there are 2 progs on there for me, the rest is the amazing Justin!

I was so cross when we lost the hard drive, not for the films and progs DH and I hadn't watched yet but for the entire new series of SS that DD2 adores!
