I’m geeky in my soul but not as knowledgeable as I’d like. Please tell me what automations you’ve set up that make your life more pleasant. So far I have:

favourite podcasts to start when I get to different places (eg waiting for public transport on my commute)

robot hoovers and mop scheduled

trying to get dishwasher to come on 1 hour after sunrise but haven’t found a way to do this yet.

Change your dishwasher socket to a timed one. Set timer for socket to be on, turn on dishwasher and it will start when the time set is active.

I have Solar powered driveway cctv and security lights.
Tapo smart devices.
Sockets in the floor specifically for the Christmas tree.
Smart lights in Living Room

Timed dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine. Hue lighting. Robot hoover. Automated velux windows in sun room which open when the room reaches a certain temperature.

Many ! for example...

When house is empty,
automatically turn all lights off (about 30!) , TVs, HomePods etc, heating off, deadlock garage and side gates, Activate notifications on phone app for doorbell Start robot vacuuming kitchen area.

or, when house empty after sunset, turn on hall, living room and garden lights.

or If leak detected in utility room, send notification to phones and speakers, and turn off washing machine.

Or, if humidity >70% in bathroom turn on extractor fan and heated mirror.

Warning it can become additive!.

I use Philips Hue for lighting and smart plugs, and Apple Home to do the automations, which includes switching things at a certain time, or at sun rise/set.

I also use Home assistant (bit more involved) to control appliances that don't support Philips Hue or Apple Home directly. (Such as a Samsung TVs, and a Miele Washing machine)
