Audio playback issues in powerpoint

I'll try to keep the explanation brief as otherwise it'll sound way more complicated.

I've got a presentation with animations in. Some of the animations have audio attached.
I made the presentation on my PC, and have put a copy on a memory stick, accompanied by all the relevant audio files.
When I run the presentation on my PC it works absolutely fine.

When I run the presentation on my laptop, the audio starts but it cuts out before the end of the audio clip.
It's the same presentation - the audio is attached to the relevant animation.

I can't understand why it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Minor update - it seems if I remove the 'fancy' animation (so instead of having the animation flying in, it just appears) then the audio works on the laptop.

On my PC it just plays back with no problem.

I'd like to keep the animation as I'd intended but possibly this is the only fix?

fancy animations in powerpoint are awful. get rid of all of them and your presentation will be much more professional and will work properly.

Different versions / updates of ppt have different abilities to play fancy animations. They’re not always reliable when playing on a different machine. Plus agree they don’t tend to look professional- keep it simple, with things appearing step by step if you need that sort of thing.

It's not for a professional "thing" - more a pub quiz scenario. I'd hate to be at a business-relwted event with a PowerPoint that was exploring all the animation effects!
I've amended the animations to 'fade in' and the audio now works, so lesson learned.

Annoyingly, it wasn't even much that was 'fsncy' - just one bit of text flying in (which was relevant to the subject matter).
